A Comparative Study was Conducted to Assess Knowledge of Primipara and Multipara Postnatal Mothers Regarding Care of Newborn in Selected Hospitals at Dehradun

A comparative study was conducted to assess knowledge of Primipara and Multipara Postnatal Mothers regarding care of newborn in selected hospitals at Dehradun. Data was collected by Structured Interview questionnaire. The result revealed that the Primipara postnatal mothers have less knowledge regarding newborn care as compared to multipara postnatal mothers.
Objectives:
- To assess the knowledge of primipara postnatal mother regarding care of newborn.
- To assess the knowledge of multipara postnatal mother regarding care of newborn.
- To compare the knowledge of primipara and multipara postnatal mother.
- To determine the association of knowledge level of pimipara amd multipara postnatal mothers regarding care of newborn to selected demographic variables.
Research Methodology: Research design- Non experimental descriptive research design
Research setting- Out patient department and ward of CMI Hospital and Community Health Centre Doiwala, Dehradun
Target population- Primipara and Multipara postnatal mothers
Sample size- 100 postnatal mothers. 50 primipara and 50 multipara postnatal mothers
Sampling Technique-Non-probability purposive sampling technique
Result and conclusion-The result of the study revealed that Overall mean knowledge score of primipara was 18.6% with the standard deviation 4.37. The overall mean knowledge score of multipara was 26.16% with the standard deviation 3.29%. So, these findings show that the primipara postnatal mothers have less knowledge regarding newborn skin care.
