A Descriptive Study to Assess the Knowledge and Attitude on Janani Suraksha Yojana among Mothers in Village Mendhasala, Khurda, Odisha

As far as the sphere of health is concerned maternal and child health issues still continue to be a forefront of national and global health policies. Each year, approximately eight million women suffer Pregnancy- related complications and over half a million die. Janani Suraksha Yojana is an ambitious scheme launched under the National Rural Health Mission, the Government of India’s flagship Health Programme. The present study was therefore conducted to assess the knowledge and attitude of mothers regarding JSY at village Mendhasala under district Khurda. In this study data are collected by survey method. Total 100 mothers with age group of 19-45 years are taken to conduct the study. A self structured tool was developed to assess the knowledge and attitude of mother regarding JSY. Result: The major findings states that there is significant negative relationship between the knowledge and attitude of mother towards JSY scheme. The chi square association between knowledge with age and education is extremely statistically significant as the calculated value is 42.6 and 92.0 which is more than the tabulated value at p=0.05.
