Effectiveness of Coma Stimulation Therapy on Traumatic Brain Injury Patients in a Government Hospital Setup –A Feasibility Study
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is one of the leading causes of morbidity, mortality and disability in India (Gururaj, 2002). With this background Arumugam et, al (2013) carried out a research by structured multimodal coma stimulation therapy is reported to be beneficial for these patients. In the current study the effect of multimodal sensory stimulation was evaluated using JFK Coma Recovery Scale- Revised (2004) and GCS in patients with TBI through pre and post-test experimental research design. This study was an attempt to bring the effectiveness nursing interventions for the patients with TBI in a hospital setup and brought good outcome. The current study carried out two follow-ups and the post test score revealed there was significant improvement in the scores of GCS and CRS. Hence the current study infers that nursing intervention also plays a role in the person with TBI in a hospital setup.
