Tetraaniline nanorods have been synthesized by emulsion polymerization method using long alkyl chain organic acid, poly (styrenesulfonic acid), PSS as dopant as well as soft-template. The resulting tetraaniline nanorods were characterized by UV-visible spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and thermogravimetric analysis. The results indicated that the successful formation of tetraaniline rods. The morphologies of tetraniline were found to be dependent on molar ratios of N-phenyl-1, 4-phenylenediamine to PSS. Thermogravimetry data revealed that the PSS doping improved the thermal stability of tetraaniline.
