A Novel Ion-Selective Electrode Based on Pyrole-2-Carboxaldehyde-Semicarbazide for Potentiometric Determination of Ca (II) Ions
Subscribe/Renew Journal
A novel Ca2+-selective membrane sensor based on Pyrole-2-carboxaldehyde-semicarbazide (PCASC) was prepared. The plasticized membrane sensor based on Pyrole-2-carboxaldehyde-semicarbazide (PCASC) exhibits a Nerstian response for Ca2+ ions over a relatively wide concentration range with a limit of detection of 1.0 x 10-8 M. It has a fast response time of <10 s and can be used for at least weeks without observing any major deviation. The sensor revealed very good selectivity with respect to diverse ions. The response of the proposed sensor is independent on pH in the range 3.0 to 10.5. It was used as indicator electrode and also used for pollution monitoring, agriculture and industrial wastage.
