Validated Liquid Chromatographic Method for Simultaneous Estimation of Ofloxacin, Ornidazole and its Isomer in Bulk and Tablet Dosage Form

A specific, accurate, precise and sensitive validated reverse phase liquid chromatographic (RP-HPLC) method has been developed for the simultaneous estimation of Ofloxacin, Ornidazole and its isomer in bulk drug as well as tablet dosage form. Drugs were analysed on C18 column using mobile phase acetonitrile: methanol:0.025 M phosphate buffer (pH 3.0) (30:10:60 v/v/v). A flow rate was maintained at 1.0 ml/min and detection was made at 318 nm. The retention time for Ofloxacin, Ornidazole and its isomer was found to be 4.04, 5.82 and 6.77 min respectively. Proposed method was validated for accuracy, precision, linearity and range, ruggedness. Linearity of Ofloxacin and Ornidazole was in the range of 2-40 μg/ml and 5-100 μg/ml respectively. Average percentage recoveries obtained for Ofloxacin and Ornidazole were 100.20% and 100.9%.
