The n-hexane extract of the ischolar_mains of Memecylon umbellatum yielded, octocosonoic acid, cerotic acid, ethyl palmitate, palmitic acid and butyric acid. The structural elucidation of the isolated compounds was based on spectral data (IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and mass spectroscopy).
