A Comparative Study of Isolated Phytosteroles from Different Plant Parts of Selected Cassia species
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Cassia species have been of keen interest in phytochemical and pharmacological research due to their excellent medicinal values The present investigation shows that the four phytosterols were quantified in selected Cassia species. The higher levels of βsitosterol (total) was found in C. renigera (0.73 mg/gdw) with the maximum, concentration in pods (0.23 mg/gdw) and minimum level was measured in C. pumila (0.08 mg/gdw; ischolar_mains). Similarly maximum concentration of lanolsterol (total) was observed in C. renigera (1.00 mg/gdw) with the maximum levels in pods (0.38 mg/gdw; C. renigera), and minimum in C. nodosa (0.05 mg/gdw; ischolar_mains). The higher levels of total compesterol was measured in C. pumila (0.77 mg/gdw) and minimum levels was measured in C. renigera (0.46 mg/gdw). Total levels of stigmasterol was measured in higher concentration in C. pumila (0.83 mg/gdw) with the maximum levels in pods (0.20 mg/gdw; C. nodosa). But minimum concentration was measured in stem (0.05 mg/gdw; C. nodosa).
