The study was carried out to evaluate the soil fertility with respect to available calcium status in red and yellow soils of Sakti block in Janjgir-Champa district of Chhattisgarh. Grid based surface (0-15 cm depth) soil samples were collected using global positioning system (GPS) from 130 villages of Sakti block consisting of red and yellow soils. The soil samples were analyzed for calcium. The soils were high in available calcium content. The status of available calcium varied from 224 to 8960 kg ha-1 with a mean value of 5037 kg ha-1. 97.31 per cent and 2.68 per cent soil samples from the study area were classified as high and low fertility class, respectively.
