Data on Land-Holdings in India

For the formulation of the land-policy and the programme of its implementation, statistical data relating to the manner in which the landownership and its operation are distributed assume primary importance. Unfortunately the data concerning landownership and operation suffer from two defects: Even the best possible data become outdated as the ownership and operation of land change very fast either by succession, transfers, etc., or by leasing and sub-leasing.
