An attempt is made in this paper to study the changes in land utilization and in cropping pattern over the two decades ending in 1960 on the basis of the data available from two .inquiries conducted in a village in the Nasik District. This village (Kasabe Sukene) was among the sample of villages selected for the study of "Economic Effects of Irrigation" undertaken during 1939-40. For the purposes of this study a sample of 25 farmers was selected from this village for conducting a farm business survey. These very farmers or their descendants were traced during 1960-61 when a study of their farm business was again undertaken. The data for the present paper are drawn from these two inquiries.
