Interrogating Social Capital:The Jharkhand Experience
Subscribe/Renew Journal
This book is an exploratory report on the Government of Jharkhand’s effort about the Church-inspired development of tribal Jharkhand (which literarily means land of forests). It is a study of some church institutions and seeks to convey their social capital movement and its evolutionary potential. It begins with a discussion of the problems of property rights, common property resources and social capital. The author rightly points out that the common property resources are owned by more than one person having equal rights and they may be community pasture land, village forest, wasteland, common dumping and threshing ground, watershed drainages, village ponds, rivers, etc.
