A Missed Traumatic Haemo-Pneumothorax under General Anaesthesia - Case Report

Rib fractures are the commonest injury following blunt thoracic trauma. Thorough clinical examination and a chest X-ray is a must in trauma victims to rule out rib fractures and associated complications. Immediate diagnosis of haemo-pneumothorax will facilitate urgent thoracocentesis and re expansion of the collapsed lung. We are presenting a case of a hemodynamically stable trauma victim with an undetected haemo-pneumothorax preoperatively, who was administered general anaesthesia with positive pressure ventilation and nitrous oxide.

Abstract
