Bridging to Transplant Time with Ventricular Assist Devices
The ultimate therapy for advanced heart failure is heart transplant but heart failure patients may die while waiting for donor heart. Ventricular assist devices are electro mechanical devices which unload failing heart and maintain normal circulation and which enable bridging to transplant time. We present a case report of a revived cardiac transplant awaiting patient by effective CPR and timely insertion of Biventricular assist device (BiVAD) enabled bridging to transplant time.
