Anaesthetic Challenges in Removal of Maggots in Hypopharynx in an Adult - Case Report
Myiasis is the parasitic infestation of live human tissues by housefly larvae which obtain their nutrition from surrounding tissues and burrow deeper into the soft tissues. Human myiasis is a rare condition, commonly seen in nose, eyes, ear, anus, vagina. The predisposing factors include poor hygienic condition with underlying diseases like Atrophic rhinitis, Leprosy, Diabetes, Malignancy and Mental retardation. Here I am presenting a middle aged diabetic lady presented with maggots in Hypopharynx, making securing the airway challenging.
