Does Sleep Deprivation in Anaesthesia Trainees Hamper Intubation
Sleep is a basic and physiologic requirement like food and water. Sleep deprivation compromises the ability to perform tasks which require speed and accuracy. This only makes it obvious that sleep deprivation could also affect anesthesiology procedures which require considerable skill, cognition, speed and accuracy such as laryngoscopy and intubation.
The purpose of the study was to observe the time taken to intubate by a sleep deprived anaesthesia trainee and a well slept anaesthesia trainee and to observe the intubation response triggered by a sleep deprived anaesthesia trainee and a well slept anaesthesia trainee. kill, cognition, speed and accuracy such as laryngoscopy and intubation.
