There are several reasons for failure of the block either technical errors or errors due to chemical interactions. There are genetic reasons also like red hair individuals and history of single or multiple scorpion bites has recently been reported are resistant to subcutaneous local anesthetics. The antigenic nature of scorpion venom that makes it more significant as it may evoke a very potent antigen-antibody response causing failure of spinal blockade.

Abstract

There are several reasons for failure of the block either technical errors or errors due to chemical interactions. There are genetic reasons also like red hair individuals and history of single or multiple scorpion bites has recently been reported are resistant to subcutaneous local anesthetics. The antigenic nature of scorpion venom that makes it more significant as it may evoke a very potent antigen-antibody response causing failure of spinal blockade.
