Non-Cardiogenic Pulmonary Edema from Massive Irrigation Fluid Absorption during Hysteroscopic Myomectomy and Diagnostic Hystero-Laparoscopy
Hysteroscopy is a procedure used to view the uterus using hysteroscope and to diagnose, treat problems within the uterus and cervix. Myomectomy is the surgical removal of fibroid of the uterus. This is a relatively safe procedure; however serious complications like pulmonary and cerebral edema associated with fluid overload can occur. Pulmonary edema is a life-threatening condition in which there is impaired gas exchange and can lead to respiratory failure.
