Patients with Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy suffer from progressive muscle weakness secondary to a defect in the dystrophin gene. They are susceptible to perioperative respiratory, cardiac complications and rhabdomyolysis. Inhalational anaesthetics have been implicated in causing rhabdomyolysis and malignant hyperthermia. We managed the case under spinal anaesthesia and sedation.
