Anesthetic Management of a Child with Foreign Body Trachea Posted for Rigid Bronchoscopy Developing Post Procedure Laryngospasm
Foreign body aspiration is a leading cause of death in children 1–3 years old.Procedures like rigid bronchoscopy involving manipulations of the pharynx & larynxcarry increased risk of perioperative laryngospasm. Laryngospasm is an anesthetic emergency that is still responsible for significant morbidity and mortality in pediatric patients.
