Role of Propofol Induced Sleep in the Diagnosis of Obstructive Sleep Apnea - A Clinical Study

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a breathing problem characterized by repetitive partial or complete obstruction of upper airway during sleep, resulting in reduction or cessation of airflow despite respiratory effort. Drug Induced Sleep Endoscopy (DISE) is a diagnostic intervention which helps to localise site of obstruction guiding further treatment. DISE needs participation of anesthesiologist and knowledge of sleep apnoea. Propofol can be used safely to induce sedation which mimics normal sleep for the diagnosis.
