M. S. Raghunathan

Professor M. S. Raghunathan is a worldclass mathematician, and is also one of the best mathematicians India has produced, with a great international reputation. He has made foundational contributions to the theory of Lie groups, algebraic groups and their subgroups. These groups are a meeting ground for many areas of mathematics such as topology, geometry, number theory and dynamics, and Raghunathan's work has had major impact on these fields as well. The significance of his work has been recognized by the international community and he has been accorded numerous honours.
