Synchysite-(Ce), CeCaF(CO3)2, is a member of the rare earth fluorocarbonate group of minerals, one of the important ore minerals of the rare earth elements (REE). The rare earth fluorocarbonates have considerable interest because of their economic importance. Synchysite-(Ce) was first discovered in syenite pegmatites from Narssarssuk, Greenland. It belongs to the parisite family and can be formed by various geological processes such as magmatic, metasomatic and sedimentary origin as well as in hydrothermal ore deposits.
