Most countries in the world, including India and USA, have increased total number of research documents published. But average quality is falling and personal integrity of professionals is coming under more serious questions. Declining quality of education and research has grave socioeconomic consequences in terms of worsening social mobility, consolidation of wealth and rising socio-political unrest.
