Approximately 71% of the earth's surface is covered by ocean. Human activities such as industrial and municipal effluents, non-point source runoff and atmospheric deposition of pollutants are observed in the Buckingham canal, Ennore. The present study aims at assessing the BOD-DO pollution load at Ennore estuary. Surface water samples were collected from Ennore estuary stretching to a distance of 1.6km. The samples were collected at every 200m interval and analysed for DO, BOD, salinity and temperature. Results indicate that the DO ranges from 12.5 to 3.4 mg/l, due to the tidal variation and algae formation, temperature lies in the range of 28°C to 35°C due to the industrial discharge in the estuary, pH is alkaline in nature due to the salt content (7.8 to 8.7), Salinity ranges from 36 to 25.7ppt due to salt concentration.
