Relying on high loess fill engineering in the gully of Yan'an area, confined compression tests are carried out to study the compression deformation of remolded loess which includes both Q3 and Q2 loess. The effects of water content and dry density on the compression deformation are analyzed, and further analyses on the relationship between these effects and the initial water content, the initial dry density of soil samples are made. In addition, based on the compression stress-strain curves and secant modulus method for calculating foundation settlement, the settlement calculation models, which hold that the relationship between pss and ps respectively accords with linear function, power function and quadratic parabola function, are established. The models are applied to the practical engineering. Compared with field monitoring data and calculated values by models for the settlement of fill foundation, it is known that for the remolded loess in this area, the models using linear fitting and quadratic parabola fitting of pss-ps is more close to the actual. The research results can provide references for other similar projects.
