In view of the phenomenon that the earthquake disaster and frost heaving of foundation are the main threats for low rise rural building, a new type of simplified composite isolation system for rural building which could not only play a seismic isolation role but also resist frost heave force has been put forward in this paper. Firstly, the composite isolation structure’s seismic dynamic equations have been deduced, and its isolation mechanism has been analyzed by the seismic response spectrum theory. Then, the elastoplastic time-history dynamic analysis of four kind structures including traditional seismic structure, sliding isolation structure, sand cushion isolation structure and composite isolation structure have been executed by ABAQUS software, and four kind structures’ dynamic response characteristics of acceleration, displacement and structural damage under rare earthquake action have been compared. Theoretical analysis and numerical simulation have drawn the same conclusions. The research results prove that the composite isolation system has a good seismic energy dissipation effect, and the greater of the earthquake input and the smaller of the friction coefficient of sliding layer can bring about more obvious isolation effect. Compared with sliding isolation structure, the acceleration response of composite isolation structure is decreased slightly, but the sliding displacement response is reduced significantly, so the deformation and restoration ability demands of limit device has been decreased.
