Landscape architecture is a systematic planning of land areas, the design of outdoor places and spaces, the conservation of natural resources and the creation of useful and pleasant living environment, which plan, design and management of both natural and built environments. Landscape planning of the city is with most scenic, ecological and recreational usage of the land. City planning includes design of outdoor public areas, land marks, and structures to achieve environmental, social-behaviour, or aesthetic outcomes using landscape architecture. The city planning consist of form, scale and sitting of new developments, parks, botanical gardens, arboretums, green ways and nature preserves, which enhance beauty of the city and attracts more tourists, so that tourism becomes a major contributor in increasing the economy of the city and also creates employment. The present study discusses the role of landscape architecture and floriculture in city planning using geographical information system (GIS). Hyderabad city, a capital of Telangana State, India is considered as a study area to develop the city plan by using advanced landscape architecture with floriculture. During the city planning, the study considers environmental and landscape assessment for proper planning and land management of city with ecological design, which minimize environmental destructive impacts by integrating ecological design with natural processes. The study take account of increasing recreational facilities such as theme parks, natural parks and recreate historical landscapes and garden appraisal with variety of flower species to develop the city. The study also concentrate on storm water management, including rainwater, green roofs and groundwater recharge to construct fountains, build green infrastructure and wetlands treatment, which bring additional beauty to the city and help in tourism development.
