Agent Based Modelling of Continuous Algal Raceway Pond for Biofuel Production in Coal Industries
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Global warming and climate change are aspects of our environment that cannot be easily or quickly discounted. The effects of global warming have catastrophic potential. Algae can be used as an alternate energy source when compared to the coal industries. This can sequester the carbon dioxide and help in avoiding the green house effect. Nannochloropsis is the algae used here to study about the production of Biofuel and ways to avoid Global warming. Agent Based Modelling is an innovative modelling approach where the building icons are mutual interactive agents situated within the environment to give an emergent behaviour to the whole system. Aim is to design a simulation model for cross linking behaviour of various agents like algae species, predator families and the ecological conditions in a continuous algal raceway pond. Continuous algal raceway pond is a sophisticated ecosystem for the production of algal biomass and for minimizing ecological pollution. This model provides an enlightened window to predict various conditions prevailing in the system. Along with providing a base model for virtual experimentation to improvise algal productivity, this model enables prediction of behaviour. In this agent based model algal species and predators are the prominent agents which follow the basic agent nature which in turn result in process optimization.
