Edge Detection and Registration of Retinal Images
Subscribe/Renew Journal
The purpose of retinal image registration is to align the retinal images for helping the clinicians in perfect diagnosing of the retinal disease. Multimodal images are taken since information obtained from different scanners varies. Since there is always constant eye movement, it is practically impossible to replicate the imaging procedure exactly for both instruments which gives rise to the need for registering two modalities. Poor quality multimodal retinal images are registered in this paper. Detection of corner points should be performed before registering the image. So edge detection of the image helps in detecting the features i.e. the nerves which thereby helps in corner point detection of the image. Poor quality multimodal retinal images can be registered using a method called PIIFD (Partial Intensity Invariant Feature Descriptor).
