The information about the original image is lost when the image is compressed by resolution progressive compression (RPC). Compressing an image is significantly different than compressing row binary data. Compression programs can be used to compress images but the result is less than optimal. For recovering the original image from the compressed image wavelet based soft thresholding method is applied to decompressed image which is compressed by RPC.
