Data mining is a process of discovering new information in terms of patterns or rules from a large volume of data. These data are stored in various heterogeneous databases. The heterogeneous databases such as transactional databases, object-relational databases, object-oriented databases, multimedia databases, spatial databases, spatio-temporal databases etc. are used to store the information.  This paper focuses on giving a brief idea of various data mining techniques such as Association, Classification, Prediction, Clustering, Outlier Analysis etc. This paper also focuses on the various applications where Data Mining Techniques can be used.
