With the advent of portable computing devices, all want to connect with the Internet on the go. Most of the data traffic in Internet is based on connection oriented reliable transport layer protocol “TCP”. Therefore it is very important for the routing protocols of MANETs to provide good performance under TCP traffic pattern so that it can be smoothly integrated with the Internet. The general practice to evaluate a MANET routing protocol is by considering CBR traffic patterns because it tests the routing protocols in highly stressful data traffic conditions. Most of the applications like ftp, http, telnet and smtp are connection oriented and use TCP as transport layer protocol. In this paper, the performance of DSR MANET routing is analyzed under CBR and TCP variants.
