Comparison of ARQ and Adaptive FEC Error Control Techniques in Wireless Sensor Networks
Subscribe/Renew Journal
This paper mainly deals with the comparative study of ARQ and Adaptive FEC error control techniques in wireless sensor networks. In Wireless sensor networks, the mode of data transmission is wireless, hence there is more possibility of errors occurring in wireless environment. The error control technique is very important which affect the parameters such as throughput, packet delivery ratio, packet lost, delay and error rate. The Adaptive forward error control technique is used to improve the throughput and reduce the error rate, there by correcting the errors and thus reducing the retransmission traffic. Two different error control techniques are analyzed and results are obtained. In ARQ the erroneous packets are retransmitted. On the other hand in Adaptive FEC technique, errors are rectified with the help of the redundant information. The trade offs between ARQ and adaptive FEC schemes are investigated. The main aim is to compare and identify the error control technique that is well suited for wireless sensor networks.
