Optimized Routing in Wireless Sensor Networks Using Modified PBR
Subscribe/Renew Journal
WSNs (Wireless Sensor Network) are networks that consist of numerous self-configuring and self-powered sensor nodes that are collectively used for sensing environmental data, data aggregation, and actuation functions in an accurate, reliable and efficient manner. Beacon-less routing helps conserve the energy of the sensor nodes by avoiding the beaconing process. In Beacon-less routing, packets are forwarded without the process of beaconing and also without the information of the neighboring nodes. PBR, also known as the position based beacon-less routing, is an algorithm that helps in minimizing the re-transmission of the data packets that generally occur in the beaconing process, which consumes more energy. In this paper, an algorithm similar to that of next forwarder selection used in position based beacon-less routing is proposed that will help find an optimal path for routing packets from source to destination.
