An Intelligent Speed Controller for Three Phase Switched Reluctance Motor
Subscribe/Renew Journal
This paper presents a design of Fuzzy PID Controller to control the speed of Switched Reluctance Motors (SRM). The speed of the motor can be controlled by using both conventional controller like PI, PID and artificial intelligent controller like Fuzzy logic controller. It has been found that existing conventional controllers like PI, PID controllers are not able to meet the certain requirements such as minimum overshoots and there are some oscillations during transition. As the design of conventional PID controller needs accurate mathematical model, it is difficult to tune the parameters and get satisfied control characteristics. The proposed controller called Fuzzy proportional-integral-derivative is used to control the speed. The modeling, control and simulation of the SRM have been done using the software package MATLAB/SIMULINK. The dynamic response of the SRM controlled by the proposed controller is studied during the starting period and under different loading conditions. With the simulation results obtained, the effectiveness of the proposed intelligent controller, the fuzzy PID controller is then compared with that of the conventional PI controller.
