With the progress of optical communication systems and especially the constraints brought by WDM techniques, new ways to convert the binary data signal on the optical carrier is proposed. Advanced modulation formats using higher-order amplitude and phase modulation is recently used to achieve record in long haul optical transmission systems.

The performance of various modulation formats are studied by deploying a standard single mode fiber. Among the various modulation format analyzation is made for high speed optical communication.
