The increase in the consumer gas flow rates more than the daily nominated gas quantities are one of the major issues in gas transmission control and operation in Egypt. To enable and allow for implementation of new strategies, adaptive control, network optimizing, planning ahead, simulation and anticipation of continuously variable supply and demand, consumer flow rates need to be limited to the nominated maximum quantities. This can be achieved by retrofitting and implementation of a designated flow limiting or flow override control system onto the existing control systems. The system operation relies on collecting data from different sensors and controlling devices from the local station, then comparing these data with stored ones. The result of the comparison is transmitted to a remote station for taking action. In this paper, a control system for this operation is proposed and tested using Arduino and ZigBee modules.
