Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks is a kind of special wireless ad hoc network, which is composed of vehicles, equipped with short range wireless communication capabilities and cooperate to form a temporary distributed network enabling communications with other vehicles or road infrastructure nodes, located in line of sight or even out of the radio range (if a multi-hop network is built among vehicles). Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks (VANETs) are of interest because they have the potential for low latencies, and allow network connections between vehicles to stay active even when they are moving at high speeds. These positive aspects of VANETs allow for the development of time-critical vehicular applications. These include car accident alert systems which have become vital, in view of the enormous increase in the number of vehicular accidents per year. In this paper we have used VanetMobiSim as a mobility generator and NS2 as a network simulator for its compatibility with VanetMobiSim.
