Analysis of Different Parameters of ZigBee (802.15.4) for Wireless Sensor Networks
Subscribe/Renew Journal
In this paper, the ZigBee protocol i.e. IEEE 802.15.4 is implemented in WSN's and its performance is evaluated in terms of throughput, delay, number of hops and network load. OPNET modeler 14.0 is used for the evaluation process Time average of results is considered. Effect of scalability is evaluated on the performance of the network. According to the concluded results, the throughput of the network increases after adding more nodes whereas delay decreases with increasing scalability. Increasing number of nodes leads to decreased network load and easy traffic management. Number of hops between nodes also decreases with increased nodes. Hence, implementing ZigBee protocol in WSNs improves the network performance by increasing throughput and decreasing delay, number of hops, network load and media access delay. Due this, low data rate protocol ZigBee is widely deployed in WSN applications nowadays.
