A Multihop Relaying Method for Multimedia Transmission in Mobile Phones using Dynamic Time Slot Partitioning Algorithm
Subscribe/Renew Journal
In today's world the expectations of people is very high in regard to the performance of the system. When it comes to multimedia transmission in mobile phones, high speed and quality of data are the two main factors to be considered. This paper focuses on high rate transmission of data by employing efficient time slot allocation techniques based on statistical multiplexing in concordance with multihop relaying. To aid the process of capacity expansion and efficient bandwidth utilization, a Dynamic Time Slot Partitioning (DTSP) algorithm has been proposed for a multihop ad hoc network. Here, the mobile phones act as relay nodes in order to provide high speed data transmission without compromising the quality of data even for the users at significant distance from the base station. By using asynchronous time division multiplexing, the available timeslots are partitioned into a number of minislots and a user is provided the required number of minislots to sequentially transmit the variable number of packets that is stored in their buffers. As the time slots are dynamically allocated, the users can transmit data without any loss in the available resources. When combined with adaptive modulation techniques, this method has proven to be more effective when compared to algorithms designed for two hop networks.
