Wireless Cardiac Telemonitoring System
Subscribe/Renew Journal
With the increase in heart diseases, it is essential for the cardiac patients to be monitored continuously. The continuous ElectroCardioGram (ECG) monitoring is mandatory for the patients who have undertaken cardiac surgery since they are more prone to sudden attacks. It is very important to identify an attack quickly and contact the medical specialists. In this system we use the rapidly evolving Wireless Telecardiology system to aid cardiac patients in saving their lives. This system proposes the usage of a Bio-Sensor which is to be worn by the patient. This sensor obtains the patient's ECG, Temperature details and sends this information to a small hand held device carried by the patient. This hand held devices in turn analyses the ECG waves and if it finds any abnormalities, it sends the data through a GSM modem to the hospital server. The server immediately sends the patient's record and the current status report to the doctors mobile. The hospital server maintains the database of the patient containing his emergency contact details. The server sends the message upon the doctor’s instruction to the person in the patients family specified as the emergency contact in the database. Here we use GSM technology for the communication between the patient and hospital server. Thus the system provides an effective aid for the cardiac patients in case of emergencies.
