Understanding Socially Challenged Adolescents: A Review

The current research focuses to identify and understand socially challenged adolescents among normal school population rather than adolescents with physical handicaps and mental challenges/handicaps. The rationale of the research underlies with the hike in adolescent's major and minor crimes, suicidal attempts and misconduct over the last few years. Socially challenged adolescents have a constellation of problems especially behavioural, social, emotional and cognitive. There are numerous studies related to special children who have disabilities in social, emotional, physical and mental health areas. But people fail to identify these problems markedly the social challenges faced by normal children or adolescence. The objective of the investigators is to understand the significance of social environment in which a person grow and thus identify the socially challenged adolescents and their characteristics with the aid of strong literature review. The study revolves around the definition, characteristics and problems faced by these populations. It also helps in determining the proper intervention for identified problems through literature support. Thus this entire review study assists the researchers for future empirical analysis thereby helping the teachers and parents to understand their child and give more attention or appropriate measures in upbringing them.
