A Study on the Major Accidents Faced by Elderly during Later Stage of their Ageing

Aging is a vital process that makes individual life, family structure and society different. Domestic accidents that old people might be exposed to could be prevented by family directions and physical changes in the space of a home. Astudy was conducted on 100 elderly of Hisar city to report the major accidents faced by them. Results revealed that almost all the respondents (99.0%) belonged to the general caste except one percent from schedule caste. 73.0 percent of elderly were living in two-story house whereas 27.0 percent elderly were living in single storey house. Most of the elderly people i.e. 45.0 percent of them had choking accident while eating or drinking followed by 43.0 percent who had cuts from knife while grating the vegetables.
