Introduction

Ashvagandha (Family: Solanaceae, Latin name: Withania somnifera) is a short woody shrub, commonly found growing in dry and sub-tropical regions of Africa, India, and the Mediterranean. Also known as Indian Ginseng and Winter Cherry, Ashvagandha has been used in Ayurveda for more than 4000 years. The fruits, leaves, and ischolar_mains have tremendous therapeutic benefits; the herb has been used as a Rasayana (rejuvenative) because of its wide range of health benefits. Ashvagandha has been proven to boost the immune system, revitalize the body in debilitated conditions, and create a sense of mental wellbeing, thereby promoting health and longevity.
