Difficult Asthma Experience with Leukotriene Antagonist
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Asthma is usually easy to manage, but 5% of patients are not controlled even on maximum doses of inhaled corticosteroids.' These patients belong to a group of "Difficult Asthma" which may be defined as failure to achieve control when maximally recommended doses of inhaled therapy are prescribed. We studied seventeen such patients of difficult asthma for any correctable factors that may have contributed to their poor control andwhether additional therapy with oral Montelukast: a leukotriene inhibitor, plays any beneficial role in its control.
