Persistent bronchopleural fistula (BPF) is a challenging management problem. Bronchoscopic closure of BPF with instillation of absolute ethanol is a minimallv invasive technique for managing BPF. We present a case that was successfully treated with this method. In India this is the'first report if the bronchoscopic closure of BPF by injecting absolute ethanol, and we would recommend this treatment as very economical, effective and safe first-line therapy for patients with a BPF with an orifice that is < 5 mm in diameter.

This case was successfully treated by injecting absolute ethanol directly into the submucosal layer of the fistula and with no complication and a follow up of six months.
