Aim: To study the clinical types of cerebral palsy in a rural teaching hospital.

Objectives: To find out comorbid problems like Microcephaly, Seizures, Subnormal Intelligence, Impaired Vision and Hearing and Behavioural Problems.

Material and Methodology: This was a hospital based retrospective study. Medical records of patients, admitted to A.V.B.R.H. for evaluation of developmental delay, during the period January 2010 to June 2010 were studied. Patients with progressive disorders like neurodegenerative and neurometabolic were excluded.

Results: Out of total 51 patients there were 23 males and 28 females, the spastic cerebral palsy was the commonest with 34 cases (66.66%). Choreoathetoid was the least common with 2 cases (3.92%). Others were hypotonic -7.84%, mixed - 17.64% and unclassified 3.92%.

In spastic quadriplegic group 100% patients had subnormal intelligence. 75% had vision, hearing problems and seizure disorder. All patients (100%) in choreoathetoid group had hearing problem.

Conclusion: Spastic cerebral palsy was the commonest clinical type of cerebral palsy as seen in our hospital. Among spastic cerebral palsy, diplegia was the commonest and least common was double hemiplegia. Most frequent comorbidi symptom was impaired vision . and the least frequent-was behavioural problem. Presence of all comorbidities was seen to be higher in spastic quadriplegic group.
