A Cross-Sectional Study of Health Status of first Year Medical Students at Entry Level

A comprehensive health check-up at entry level of first year MBBS students of Terna Medical College, Navi Mumbai was undertaken. Under this, anthropometric measurements, general and systemic examination, visual testing and investigations were carried out. Out of 98 students 66.32% had normal Body Mass Index (BMI) and almost equal number, i.e. 17.35% and 16.33% students were under weight and overweight respectively. Ophthalmic examination showed that 52% students had corrected refractory errors. Prevalence of anaemia in girls was found to be higher than boys (34.88% in girls and 10.91% in boys). 84.69% students did not have any complaints.
