Subscribe/Renew Journal
Although acute appendicitis is still the most common cause of acute abdomen, yet mucocoele of the appendix is a rare disease characterised by its variable presentations. Majority of these cases are diagnosed either intraoperatively or postoperatively by histopathology. We encountered a middle aged man, who was diagnosed with a big sized mucocoele of appendix intraoperatively during appendicetomy. Since the caecum was not involved near the base of appendix only appendicectomy was done. Patient had uneventful postoperative period and is well at six months of foliowup. The case is being presented to highlight some important clinical features of this rare condition.
